How to Make Christmas Lantern Earrings Using Furnace Glass

For this pair of drop earrings, I picked a couple of furnace cane glass beads to turn into Christmas Lanterns. I love the look of furnace glass... no two pieces seem to be identical yet they can easily be matched into pairs.

One of the things I love most about cane glass is that it reminds me of rock candy being cut into bite size chunks. Defintely only a sweet tooth would compare glass with candy 😜

This is a super easy design and doesn't need much explaining.

But if you haven't tried making wrapped loops before, then click over to this post which shows you how to do it. Wrapped loops add a little more length to the drop on these earrings, giving them a very elegant look. They also make your earring components super secure so they can't come apart!

To make a pair of these earrings, you'll need the following supplies:
Bead and finding layout for construction of Christmas Lantern earrings
Begin by threading on all the beads onto the eye pin in the order shown in the photo above, except for the seed bead and teardrop crystal. Turn a loop at the top.

Thread the seed bead and teardrop on the headpin. Leave a 2-3mm gap above the bead and bend the head pin at a 45° angle .
Teardrop crystal strung on a ball head pin

Form a loop with the round nose pliers.
Create a loop above the teardrop crystal

Hook it onto the bottom of the lantern component and create a wrapped loop. Trim the excess.

Attach the teardrop crystal to the bottom of the lantern component

Connect the earring wire to the lantern with the jump ring.
Hook the lantern component and the earring wire onto a jump ring.

Use the remaining beads and findings to create a matching lantern earring.
